What'd Ya Do This Weekend

Welcome to the new week. If you are a regular here thanks for coming back and if this is your first time, welcome! I hope you enjoy the party.

Big Sister was in town to watch the grand girls and we ate and cooked and ate some more.  We are finishing up the weekend working on a burger extravaganza that will be coming soon!  I had everyone in my family write out their favorite burger and we are making them all.  Fun times in the kitchen and on the grill.

To start our food fiesta we went a little “light” with this Taco Salad with Jicama Pico.

Taco Salad with Jicama Pico de GalloThen we got serious and made cupcakes.  The family favorite was this Bacon Maple Syrup Cupcake.

Welcome to the new week. If you are a regular here thanks for coming back and if this is your first time, welcome! I hope you enjoy the party.

We went from a week of sadness and tragedy to one that was wonderful and hopeful for me.  This week the ladies at our church lead by my daughter, Amy, put together a spring festival called Hearts of Compassion.  It was a beautiful day and a beautiful event.  Everyone had a ball and some really good work came from it.  I added my Peanut Butter Cake to everyone’s baked goods for the sale.

Welcome to the new week. If you are a regular here thanks for coming back and if this is your first time, welcome! I hope you enjoy the party.

Such a sad and dramatic week last week.  It made me pause to think about those things for which I am truly grateful.  Of course, I am grateful for my friends and I really thought that Ladies Holiday’s contribution to the party came at just the right time.  It was the mid-week feature.

These contributions also lifted my spirits.

This weekend was time to finish getting the garden set.  I repainted my patio furniture, painted my garden markers (thanks SaltTree), planted the rest of my summertime seeds and vegetables and (whew!) then I rewarded myself with this delicious Grilled Cheese Green Chile Hamburger.

Welcome to the new week. If you are a regular here thanks for coming back and if this is your first time, welcome! I hope you enjoy the party.

I was a little late with the mid-week feature do to a crazy week at work but I just adore this one from Jane’s Adventures in Dinner:  Fat Free Banana Gingerbread Muffins.  Mmm.mmm…good and no fat (til you add that hunk of butter).

Last week, I was garden inspired again with this simple and cute Strawberry Planter from We Made That.

I also thought this rainy day cake with a bit of sunshine mixed in from Just Dip It In Chocolate was precious!  Berry Blue Poke Cake

We are doing it again this week. Everyone gets pinned. Spread the word. ;)

There was a lot of destruction in this west Texas town this weekend.  I stayed home and steered clear of the chaos.  On Saturday they brought down this old and unused tower.  It was a landmark even though it was kind of an eyesore.  I think things will look very different.  They also destroyed the old city hall.  I guess El Paso is into spring cleaning this year.

This weekend, while hiding out, I hosted a Lemon party with Hammock Tracks and Call Me PMC.  There was some great stuff and I remembered a few of my favorite lemon posts.  Of course, I threw a new one in for good measure.  Lemon Basil Sandwich Cookies, Meyer Lemons and Lemon Poppy Seed Bread.

Last week’s mid-week feature was from Becca at Crumbs and Chaos: Roasted Rhubarb Shortcakes. I love the use of this totally underrated and under used treat. It inspired me to get creative in my kitchen. Thanks Becca!

It is back to the garden time for me. I bought over 100 plantables to get to work on this weekend. Time to start the garden posts. I also started looking forward to what was coming in the vegetable garden with these Roasted Beets.

This week’s mid-week feature was from Bethany at Whistle and Ivy:  Crocheted Mary Janes.  These darlings are just the thing for me.  I also love the support that Bethany is lending to a very good cause in this post.  Check it out!

Let’s RAMBLE!   I didn’t do or cook anything this weekend.  I sat around and ate frozen pizza…….

APRIL FOOLS!  Happy April Fools Day :) I had a lovely Easter Sunday and a lot of fun getting ready for it.  My family is very traditional when it comes to menus for holidays and of course I want to honor that.  This year I added a new twist here and there.  I did a round up of all the sides.

I also created a little something courtesy of the foodie pen pal program.  I love this pulled pork slider with sweet and spicy slaw.  What a snack!

Welcome to the new week. If you are a regular here thanks for coming back and if this is your first time, welcome! I hope you enjoy the party.

I am adding a new element this week.  In addition to weekly features next Monday, there will be a mid-week feature.  This will be on Facebook and Pinterest Wednesday of this week.  This week’s mid-week feature was Linda (great name) from With A Blast:  Apple Meringue Pie.  I have never heard of this and I am not quite sure why.  Sounds delicious!

I can see everyone “springing” into action just like me.  There was a lot of great stuff and a lot of diversity in the projects submitted. So, I picked features from a little here and a little there.  Who couldn’t use some garden tips or something (anything) with chocolate and a nice little cookie for Easter?

Let’s RAMBLE!  It was another wild and windy west Texas weekend around here.  After braving the winds Saturday to gather my supplies, I spent most of Sunday hiding in my kitchen working on some great stuff to reveal this week.

Pea and Carrot Potstickers

Last week my girls were together and they invented these very interesting sounding potstickers while I kept up my baking with some more cupcakes.

Last week had some great stuff and I am finding it hard to pick favorites. Here are a couple of my favorites. The Christian Easter Eggs are so simple and sweet and that Carrot Patch Cake is simply baking genius! I bet I make one of those to take to work.

So, let’s ramble shall we? Spring is springing! YAY! Reports from South Central Texas are that the wildflowers are blooming. I am planning on going to the Poppy Festival here in El Paso. Of course, Sunday was St. Patrick’s Day. The day we are all a little bit irish. By request I made these Lucky Charmer cookies while planning more spring crafts and goodies AND of course starting to plot my garden projects for the year. I must have zucchini and tomatoes. I’ll go garden shopping and see what else strikes my fancy.

So, let’s ramble shall we?  I had a great weekend with my kids.  We went out to celebrate my birthday not once but twice. I went to a cooking class with my girls.  I am writing up a post for that later this week.  While I was waiting for my oldest daughter to get here from Austin I worked on these really neat cupcakes from my Mom’s Better Homes Gardens (1947).

Hi and Happy Monday!  I hope you had a great weekend.  Thanks for coming back to my weekly party.  Also, welcome to anyone that hasn’t been here before.  I am so glad you found the party.

The featured link from last week was Creamy Lobster Farfalle from Wanda Ann Olsen at Memories by the Mile.   This dish is just breathtaking as well as delicious sounding.  She got the recipe from her son.  What a lucky lady!  Thanks for sharing Wanda Ann.

So, let’s ramble shall we? I started the weekend off with a bang by bringing my TGIF Chocolate Cake to work.  Then March roared in like a lion with a wind storm and I have been dealing with allergies all weekend.  So, it was a rather low-key weekend.  That was okay, as I had a travel adventure last weekend and I will be going to Johnny Vee’s pasta cooking class next weekend.  My oldest daughter is returning the visit to celebrate my birthday so it will be fun!
